So, in 1816, one of our many trips up to Raymond, we decided to take an extended stay at my Uncle Richard’s house. Now, I’m told that the trip from Salem to Raymond takes roughly three hours these days -- is that about correct? In these -- automobiles that drive along the roads that there are. Try four days my friends -- in a stagecoach. A very large and noisy and uncomfortable stagecoach with large iron wheels -- and I’ve heard some people complain about the “camp roads” which have potholes and are not paved around here. Well, let me tell you, four days in a stagecoach would solve that problem!
